Toronto’s Nate Jawai Re-Assigned To Idaho Stampede

NEW YORK, April 3, 2009 – The Toronto Raptors today re-assigned rookie Nathan Jawai to the Idaho Stampede, the Raptors’ NBA Development League affiliate. Jawai’s re-assignment is the 43rd in the league this season.

The 6-10 center-forward’s first assignment to the Stampede was between Feb. 26 and March 23, when he appeared in 10 games and averaged 12.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 25.0 minutes.

Jawai has appeared in six games for the Raptors this season. He was cleared Dec. 17, to begin physical activity after being sidelined since training camp for precautionary reasons as a result of an abnormality detected during normal procedural preseason cardiac screening.

Originally selected in the second round (41st overall) by the Indiana Pacers, Toronto acquired Jawai’s rights from Indiana on July 9. He became the first indigenous player from Australia to be drafted by an NBA team.

Jawai is set to join the Stampede in Idaho today and be available when the team travels to take on the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Saturday, April 4.
